The Design Engineer is a key team lead who knows how to translate design intent into reality and has a passion for making things. You will be working with designers, engineers, and architects to optimize the design of products in development based on manufacturing strengths and constraints. You will ensure manufacturability and conduct research and development of cutting-edge fabrication methodologies to fully utilize each machine's potential.

Responsibilities

Your responsibilities in this job

 

  • Work with designers and production team members to develop systems and products comprising of sheet metal, recycled plastic, and novel materials 
  • Collaborate with product designers to fully optimize product performance and fabrication
  • Create highly detailed 3d models, production files, bill of materials, and fabrication documents
  • Developing prototypes and mockups
  • Programming the CNC machinery 
  • Research to source hardware, tooling, and materials.

The ideal candidate probably doesn't exist, but if you come close to the following list of knowledge and experience, reach out!

  • A finished HBO/bachelor’s degree related to mechanical or industrial engineering;
  • You’ve been working with CAD software such as solid works, AutoCAD or fusion360 for 3+ years; 
  • You have experience designing for a manufacturing environment and familiarity with CNC machinery; 
  • Knowledge and experience in architecture or design industries is a big plus; 
  • Knowledge and experience with CNC programming or other programming languages (python, grasshopper, or visual basic) is a big plus;
  • Given the size and growth of NOWN we expect you to be hands-on and that you really like to idea of building something together.
  • Experience with SolidWorks or Rhino 3D
Requirements

  • Exceptional oral and written communication skills in English, any other language is a plus
  • This role is remote, based in Turkey.
